Phoenix rising
As the first phase of a multi-block plan that includes new sports arenas, housing, and university expansion, CityScape was conceived as a catalyst for new life and vitality in a struggling downtown district. Incorporating office and residential/hotel towers atop two levels of retail and dining on two city blocks, the project is centered on an active urban community space. Despite opening in the depths of the great recession, the plan worked. With new light rail now running from the airport through downtown, and the state universities moving forward with their expansion plans, more housing and retail offerings are on the rise, ensuring a stronger 24 hour population.
