Organized around a vintage (now land-based) cruise ship converted to a hotel and restaurant, China Merchants’ Ocean World is a new retail entertainment complex in Shenzhen’s Shekou District. Once the site of a small fishing village, the area has been transformed over the last twenty years into a busy entertainment district that draws expatriates and locals alike.
We established a new canal, dotted with numerous cafés, restaurants and bars in varied design styles to re-establish a visual and historical connection to the sea and add energy to this dynamic district. Bold, contemporary architectural forms, inspired by nautical design and sea life, further define the complex as a distinctive destination.
